One of my go-to spots in LIC! There's plenty of seating with outlets, a great selection of drinks, and the bartenders even let you customize your own cocktail. The overall vibe is cozy & welcoming, making it the perfect place to get some work done while enjoying a drink--especially during happy hour! There's also a rooftop that no one really knows about--I like coming here during the summertime to view the skyline!

Keepin it real in LIC Love this place! The vibe, cafe, great lighting (in the front) Cozy in the back Bathroom, wifi, outlets, great space

I recently went to this hostel for a local entrepreneur meet up, and really... what a hidden gem! You're instantly taken away from all the hustle and busy energy of Lic, transported into a cozy interior! I love that this place is part cafe, part bar, and part communal living. The service and beverage options were great as well

I went here to celebrate two birthdays and it was empty, which was perfect for our group to be able to hear each other. Bartender was kind and invited our group to green tea shots after he heard we were there for a double birthday. While there is no food (as it is the bar of a hotel that does not serve food), the vibe was great and it is spacious. Great part was that we did not have to pay as a table and we had individual tabs. Would come back here again!

This place is huge, open area, and relaxing ambience. Looks it was refurbished from a garage or factory. There are books available to read and family games available to play. Perfect place to dodge in for a cold one after a busy day. Haven't try the foods yet but the beers are very good. Great service. Definitely recommend this place to others

I had a great time here. First off for two people we had about four or five ciders. Then I two shots of tequila. My friend had 4 shots because there was buybacks. I didn't trust my stomach would be able to handle it. The tab was under 80, which felt like early 2000s prices. Pretty good for people who are on a budget. This place is super cozy. There's an abundance of couches and chill places to sit. The bartender was super sweet. Its a small bar area. Normally I'd sit at the bar but there was this cute little table that I wanted to use. Theres tons of books, an internet Cafe type setup. Also there's board games. I decided to play some cards. The music wasn't too loud. You can actually talk to the person you're with. It felt like a warehouse with tons of couches to sit on that were waiting to be sold. ::Bathroom Alert:: Theres many stalls for the women's Bathroom. Each stalls was clean. It didn't smell bad or nothing. Two thumbs up for the bathroom. They check your that your vaccinated. I could see myself making this a weekly place. The prices are super cheap. Its a very comfortable place to just relax. I highly recommend this place. I'm not sure if they serve food or not. I didn't see a menu for the food. They did have wifi but I didn't ask for the password. They do have ports for you to charge your phone. There was a pinball machine, atm and vending machine for snacks.

This is Hostel/ Bar. The bar is for the hostel' guest but also open for public. The ambience is soo chill, relaxing.. And price is Wow! absolutely for young people with budget. $5wine, $10 cocktail.. Love love Feel like wanna sleep on the couch

The local is a good place to have work done or hang out with people. It's a part of hostel but it's open to everyone. I came here on Saturday and I was surprised by how quiet it was. It's a spacious bar+cafe place with nice atmosphere. If you are tired of a big crowd in NY, this is a right place to go. The prices are also reasonable. We got some fancy beer and it was cheaper than other bars. The staff was nice and friendly too. He offered some beer samples and tried to help us. I might come back again.

The Local is a Long Island City hostel that has a cafe and bar open to all. I checked it out for the first time recently and was pleasantly surprised. It is in a bit of a weird location, so it isn't too busy and is pretty quiet inside. The space is large and relaxing and seems like something you'd find in Brooklyn. The best part of The Local are the selection and prices. They have good beers, like Bell's and Allagash and Montauk, and the prices are amazing. $5 for draft, $5-$6 for bottles. We didn't have any cocktails, but they are only $9 each and they all sounded pretty good. The bartender was nice; we weren't sure what we wanted and he offered us sizeable samples to help us decide. We spent a bit of time there relaxing and enjoying the calm and good weather. I don't know how often I will go because it is a little out of the way, but The Local is certainly worth it if you're nearby and want an inexpensive, peaceful drink.

I can't believe I haven't reviewed the Local Bar yet. I LOVE this place! I wandered into the Local Bar with a friend after we checked out the MoMA PS1. I'm so glad we did. The place has great beer, comfortable, plentiful seating, power strips to charge your devices, and some light snacks. Now the Local Bar is easy to miss. It's a bit off the beaten path in LIC and if you google local bar, you're likely going to come up with 1 bizmillion entries. The Local Bar is part of the Local Hostel. I didn't even know we had Hostels over here in Queens. You don't have to be staying at the hostel though to enjoy. You will see lots of interesting folks in and around the bar. They're usually friendly and easy to make conversation with. Walking there, you'll know you've arrived when you see the garage door. They probably close it in winter, but at least for now, that garage door is open so you can walk right in as opposed to using the door. The decor makes you feel comfortable right away. There's some long bench seating with a few small tables as well as some more soft seating. Along the bench are a few power strips where you can charge your phone and/or do some work. You're not gonna have a huge selection of beers here, they've got 2 or 3 on tap if I remember correctly (probably more in bottle) but their taps usually have some excellent choices. They've also got a great happy hour windows and great prices. If you're hungry, you're gonna stay hungry cause they've only got some light snacks, but I don't consider that a big deal. In the back they've got a cornhole set which you can take advantage of if you're with a friend and they're boring. =) Stop in to the Local if you're in the area.
